Surely, the use of two names by a single person is not as common in scientific community as it is in literary community.

In my case this ambivalence arises due to the difficulties in transliterating my original cyrillic name, which goes as Максим Артёмов. Direct transliteration according to the rules adopted by the Ukrainian Government goes as Maksym Artomov while phonetically correct translation that I prefer is Maxim N. Artyomov.

Thus, I am forced to use the first one on all of my official documents and contracts but I am very consistent in using my "proper" name spelling in all my publication

I have defended my PhD at MIT on Nov. 5, 2009 and since December of the same year I am a postdoc at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard working in the Aviv Regev's group.

My scientific interests revolve around applications of statistical mechanics in biology, all kind of biophysics and, most importantly, systems biology.
